You will be picked up from your department in Side at around 9:00 am in a comfortable minivan. You embark on a fantastic journey to one of the most beautiful corners of Turkey – the Sapadere Canyon.
For your comfort, we recommend that you bring beach and sun protection equipment, as well as drinking water.
The first stop on your way is Alanya’s incredible orchards. You will walk through the plantations and see how bananas and other fruits are grown in this region.
Then go to an amazing and beautiful place – the cave of the dwarves, famous for its walls shimmering in different colors. A delicious and healthy lunch awaits you at a local restaurant.
Immediately after lunch, head to Sapadere Canyon – a real paradise on earth. You will have free time to walk along the canyon, breathe the fresh mountain air, enjoy the incredible landscapes that open to your eyes and risk swimming in the crystal clear but very cool mountain river Dim.
After a fantastic walk through the gorge, a modern minivan will be waiting for you to take you back to Side. You will arrive at your hotel around 17:30.
On your way you will have a unique opportunity to visit Alanya banana gardens. Alanya is the only region in Turkey that grows bananas.
This is because in Alanya the most favorable, warm climate is suitable for this exotic fruit. Bananas here are incredibly tasty, juicy and aromatic. You will have the opportunity not only to walk among these plantations, but also to buy some fresh, freshly picked and ripe bananas.
In addition to banana plantations, there are also a variety of other fruit plantations. Citrus fruits, pomegranates and even olives are successfully grown in this region. Strolling through the beautiful Alanya Gardens, you will see the Carob Tree or Ceratonia. You will be surprised, but from the fruits of this tree, similar to the pods of peas or beans, the most useful sweetener is made.
Continuing your way, visit the beautiful cave of the dwarves. This is an amazing place that has existed since Ottoman Empire times but only opened to tourists in 2012.
You will be amazed by the walls of this cave, covered with many stalactites and stalagmites, shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow: red, blue, green, yellow. This is just an amazing sight!
There are six galleries or halls in the cave, each beautiful in its own way. There is a legend that a dwarf from a neighboring village took refuge in this cave, being insulted by everyone. Hence the cave got its name – the cave of the dwarves.
You have an excellent opportunity to stroll through the cave’s halls and admire the incredible beauty created by nature itself over 15,000 years ago.
After a walk in the fresh air, you will surely want to rest a little, take a breath and replenish the spent energy. Therefore, a delicious traditional Turkish lunch awaits you at a local restaurant.
The served dishes will pleasantly surprise you. The menu features grilled chicken or fish, rice and fresh seasonal vegetable salad. For an additional fee you can choose any drink from the restaurant’s menu.
Sapadere Canyon is an unusually beautiful and magical place in the middle of the Taurus Mountains. Incredibly steep and narrow slopes have shaped this natural wonder. The canyon is 450 meters long and almost 400 meters deep.
Take a walk through this breathtaking natural paradise hidden in the mountains. Crystal clear turquoise water rushes down the canyon forming many waterfalls and small bodies of water. This is a fantastically beautiful mountain river Dim flowing through the gorge.
Especially for tourists, there is a footpath made of wooden bridges along the entire canyon. Thanks to it, you can discover incredible, magnificently beautiful views of wildlife, enjoy the singing of birds, the rhythmic turbulence of the river, the scent of pine trees, the coolness, as well as the freshest mountain air.
You have free time to explore the canyon on your own. The route is only 700 meters long, so it will not take you much time to walk, and a special footpath will not let you get lost.
There is an open-air cafe and restaurant on the territory of the canyon. If you wish, you can enjoy a cup of aromatic freshly brewed coffee or natural Turkish tea if you wish and observe the incredibly beautiful landscapes.
The winding gorge forms unusual beautiful waterfalls. You have a wonderful opportunity to swim in the mountain stream. There is a special bathing area near the waterfall.
It should be noted that the water in the river is very cool and does not exceed 12 ° C even in the warmest weather. Therefore, not everyone will dare to swim in it.
After your wonderful walk through the beautiful Sapadere Canyon, return to the meeting point where your transport will be waiting for you to take you back to your hotel in Side.
