Your exciting journey begins with a comfortable coach picking you up from your hotel. You will take an exciting journey through an amazing area known for its breathtaking landscapes. During the tour you will visit the Valley of Love.
Here you will have time to admire the beautiful view of the valley and take beautiful photos. Then visit the Red and Rose Valley. After visiting the valleys, lunch awaits you. After lunch, continue your journey and visit the underground city of Kaymakli and Ortahisar Castle. At the end of the excursion you will visit the ancient village of Chavushin . At the end of the excursion, a comfortable bus will take you back to the hotel.
Valley of Love: You will visit one of the most interesting and beautiful valleys – the Valley of Love. It is famous for its unusual rock formations. They literally covered the valley like huge porcini mushrooms. You will be amazed to see these incredible structures created by nature itself. And the incredibly beautiful view of the valley will give you a lot of wonderful photos.
Red and Rose Valleys: Your journey will take you through the unsurpassed beauty of the Red and Pink Valleys. They are named for the shadows of the rocks within them. From the outside, these rocks resemble an Italian meringue or a fluffy pink dessert. Both valleys are filled with cave churches that still have beautiful frescoes. You will be amazed at how many cave passages there are in these valleys. It’s just impossible to count them. You have to walk 2-3 kilometers through the valleys. The landscapes that open to your eyes along the way will amaze you.
Kaymakli Underground City: During your trip you will visit the city of Kaymakli. Kaymakli is the largest underground city in Cappadocia, the oldest monument of civilization. It is said to have been built in Hittite times and only opened relatively recently – 1964. This mysterious city is a maze of tunnels and rooms carved deep into the earth in eight levels. Only 5 levels have been fully excavated by archaeologists. You may be surprised, but everything was intended for the residence of 15,000 people. Stables were on the first level, the church and living quarters on the second, and kitchens and a storeroom on the third. The current inhabitants of Kaymakli still use parts of the underground city as storage, stables and cellars.
Ortahisar Castle: Ortahisar Castle – The fortress towering over the town of Ortahisar is one of the town’s major tourist attractions. You will be amazed by this fortress, literally carved into the rock and dotted with caves. There are 10 floors in total. Ortahisar has been used since Roman times. If you climb to the top of the fortress you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view. The most impressive panorama of the Hallakder valley – the valley of the fabulous chimneys and the majestic snow-capped Erciyes volcano on the horizon.
Chavushin Village: Chavushin is the oldest settlement in Cappadocia, a rocky city. You may be surprised but in 1953 people lived in dwellings carved into the rock. Due to landslides and erosion, they had to abandon their homes. Old churches and monasteries carved into the rock are among the most interesting structures in the village. Built in the 5th century, the Church of St. John the Baptist is one of the most famous churches in Chavushin. There are ancient frescoes here where you can see the faces of Mary and Jesus. You will surely enjoy walking around the old buildings and imagining how people used to live here.
Lunch: Your exciting journey will last almost all day. A hearty lunch at a local restaurant awaits you during the tour. Here you can expect delicious national dishes prepared by Cappadocian chefs.
