Myra is known for being where Nicholas the Wonderworker lived and preached.

For all believers, he is considered the protector of children, the propitiator of enemies, and the protector of those unjustly condemned. He brought Christmas presents to children and became the prototype of the modern day Santa Claus. Over time, the church went underground and was discovered only in 1850 by the Russian traveler AN Muravyov. He began raising funds for her restoration.

Today the church has the status of a museum. Here you can see the sarcophagus in which Nicholas the Wonderworker was buried. Touching is considered a great success. You will be amazed by the frescoes from the 11th century that have survived to this day.
