Go to bed early the night before, because early in the morning, around 05:00, a car will be waiting for you at your hotel to take you to Antalya Airport. After going through all the necessary procedures, board the Antalya – Kayseri flight and after 1 hour 15 minutes you will land at the desired location. At the airport you will be met by a driver and, sitting in a comfortable car, you will explore the mysterious Cappadocia.
We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and shoes as there is a lot of hiking. You’ll be under the scorching sun for most of the tour, so bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat.
The first point of the route will be the most beautiful valley of Cappadocia – the Valley of Love. In addition to the beautiful name, the valley strikes with unusual shapes of formations resembling huge porcini mushrooms.
After walking a little in the Valley of Love, move to the next location. Uchisar Fortress is a masterpiece of stone architectural style and also the highest point in Cappadocia.
Not far from the fortress there is a beautiful valley of pigeons, where you will go. The place represents the symbiosis of nature and people in its most beautiful form. People have carved pigeon houses into the tuff to attract picky little guests.
On the way to the next place, you will appreciate Turkish cuisine at a local cafe. After lunch and recharged, continue your journey.
After appreciating the ingenuity of your ancestors, you will explore a different place where man and nature worked together to create a masterpiece of architecture. We are talking about the underground city of Derinkuyu, striking in its size.
The most amazing place you will visit during the tour in Cappadocia is Goreme Open Air Museum. Here you get closer to religion, because Goreme is rich in Christian cave churches and monasteries from Byzantine times. You will receive a lot of valuable information and you will see with your own eyes why this place is the cultural heritage of mankind.
You will also visit a workshop where onyx jewelry is made. After visiting the workshop, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant with a beautiful view.
As your adventure draws to a close, your flight time to Antalya is approaching. On the way to the airport, you can once again admire the beauty of Cappadocia from the car window. You fly quickly and comfortably back to Antalya Airport and are then transferred to your hotel in Kemer.
Valley of Love: The Valley of Love will leave unforgettable memories in your heart. Walking along the stone pillars you will feel like you are in a fairy tale. All of this beauty was formed millions of years ago as a result of volcanic eruptions and subsequent ash emissions.
In the lower part, the pillars are made of tuff, and in the upper part, they are made of more durable basalt. Therefore, over time, the tuff stalk became thinner and the basalt tip pointed, creating bizarre shapes.
On average, the height of the pillars reaches 20-30 meters, but there are huge pillars up to 40 meters. Imagine – a giant boletus as tall as a 13-story building! As you walk past these giants, you will feel the insignificance of man on the scale of nature. At this point you can make very beautiful unforgettable pictures that will decorate your page on social networks.
Uchisar Fortress: At an altitude of 1400 meters above sea level there is a cozy village, above which the Uchhisar Fortress rises. From the top of the fortress there is a breathtaking view of the adjacent cave village at the foot of the mountain, the valley of the pigeons and the vents of extinct volcanoes that created all this magical beauty many millions of years ago.
Uchisar was carved into a tuff formation 60 meters high. The fortress is the highest point in Cappadocia, images of which are displayed on all tourist banners and souvenirs. For a long time, the fortress served as a watchtower for army defense purposes. Due to the danger of collapse, the locals left the village and moved to nearby stone houses.
You can climb to the top of the fortress for an amazing view! Be sure to snap some souvenir photos while enjoying this incredible spectacle.
Pigeon Valley: Pigeon Valley is one of the most beautiful places you will visit during the tour. Thousands of tiny houses are carved into the tuff formations. Of course, all these efforts are not easy, because the pigeons have fertilized the soil with dung and made it fertile. Vineyards from which top local wine is made still grow on such soils today. The rocks are painted bright colors to attract pigeons. By the way, pigeons live here and now.
As you walk through the valley you will see different species of pigeons that have existed here for thousands of years. Pigeon droppings have a good effect on soil fertility, thanks to these small birds, chic vineyards sprout in Cappadocia, from which excellent wines are then pressed.
Lunch: On the way to your next stop, take a short break at a local coffee shop to satisfy your growing appetite. After a hearty lunch and a rest, you will continue to conquer the unknown Cappadocia full of strength and energy.
Underground city of Derinkuyu: It consists of eight spacious floors that reach sixty meters underground. Derinkuyu became a haven for many people from different races and civilizations who clung to their beliefs or religion despite persecution. This place has an amazing, mysterious atmosphere that takes you into the complex past of the underground people.
In the Derinkuyu underground city, try to learn the secrets of the people who preferred underground life, light and warmth. The city was built between the 6th and 10th centuries AD. The people who carved the city even then were able to create an excellent ventilation system and plumbing. Derinkuyu consists of eight floors that reach 60 meters underground. Only a tenth of the city is open to tourists, but there is still a lot of interesting things to see here.
Goreme Open-Air-Park: Goreme Open Air Park is one of the few places on earth that everyone must visit. The area is full of cave churches and monasteries from the Byzantine period of early Christianity. Many churches are well preserved and await visitors. In the churches you can admire the unique frescoes depicting the events of the Bible and the life of the ancient Cappadocians. The prevailing atmosphere here gives perfect peace and good mood.
You will visit the St. Basil’s Church, the Apple Church, the Chapel and the Barbara Church, the Snake Church and the Convent.
Onyx Jewelry Workshop: You will visit the onyx jewelry workshop. Onyx is one of the varieties of quartz. Onyx is used to make jewelry, as well as small household items, caskets, and candlesticks. In Cappadocia, the production of onyx jewelry has a special meaning, since this mineral enjoys special respect and veneration here.
In the workshop you can admire jewelry made of onyx and other metals and stones. Secure something sweet as a souvenir for yourself or your friends, colleagues or loved ones.
Onyx is a very important stone for the local people, almost totemic. Therefore, making jewelry from this mineral is an integral part of Cappadocian culture and life.
Dinner and Return: Before heading to the airport, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local Turkish restaurant. After dinner, a car will be waiting for you to take you to Kayseri Airport for your flight back to Antalya. A driver will be waiting for you at Antalya Airport. When you get in the car, go to the hotel where you stayed in Kemer.
