Green Canyon Boat Trip from Belek

Would you like to change your stay on the beach under the bright sun for a walk along the most picturesque canyon with emerald waters? If yes, then you are already waiting for the perfect place to take stunning landscape photos and get the maximum aesthetic pleasure from the mesmerizing views. Traveling along the Green Canyon boat trip from Belek, you will fill your vacation with pleasant impressions and keep only good memories in your mind.

Your fascinating excursion will take you through the beautiful valley of the Taurus Mountains, which is completely flooded with water. Its color is simply indescribably beautiful: light – emerald green, very deep and rich. The valley is bordered by mountain slopes with dense vegetation. Not far from the canyon there are pomegranate and citrus trees. They will delight you with incredible flavors coming from them. Eagles have chosen this mountainous area and if you lift your head you can see them soaring overhead. If you are lucky you will witness the hunt for small fish that can be found in large numbers in crystal clear waters.
As surprising as it may seem, Green Canyon is a reservoir. Its appearance is associated with the construction of a hydroelectric power station. But it is so beautiful that it has the status of a nature park. It was built in 1984. To carry out the work, specialists from Switzerland were involved, resulting in a massive dam on which 4 turbines, each with a capacity of 135 MW, were built.

The magical beauty of local nature and the picturesque expanse of emerald waters annually attract tourists from all over the world.

The water temperature in the canyon is quite cool, only 12 degrees, and does not change throughout the year. This is due to numerous underwater sources.

Even the ancient Romans used these places, creating reservoirs and an aqueduct, which is striking in its functionality.

Green Canyon boat trip from Belek will offer you the coolness of the mountains and the opportunity to change the bored seascape with new emotions and impressions.

Belek Green Canyon Boat Trip Program

Your amazing journey starts early in the morning between 8:30am and 9:00am depending on your hotel location. A comfortable, air-conditioned bus will pick you up and head towards the beautiful Green Canyon.

You will be taken to the place where the motor ship departs. You will take your places in it and admire the fabulous water surface and picturesque surrounding nature. You’ll have two stops along the way so you can swim in the emerald waters of the canyon. You’ll also make a stop at a lakeside restaurant where you’ll be treated to a hearty and delicious lunch. After that, your wonderful journey continues.

Boat Ride

Your journey takes place on a comfortable double-decker boat that can accommodate up to 150 people. There is everything for your convenience: showers and toilets, dressing rooms and a bar. In it you can order any soft drink for yourself (Pepsi, Cola, Sprite, Fanta, coffee, tea and water). This is included in the price of your tour.

Oymapinar Lake

A mighty dam built in 1984 with the help of specialists from Switzerland formed a lake with a size of 479 hectares. A hydroelectric power station with four turbines was also built nearby. After it powered the aluminum plant, it now stops working. 27 rivers from the Taurus Mountains flow into the lake. You will be amazed by its depth, on average it reaches 130 meters and even more in some places. You’ll probably want to take a refreshing dip in these emerald-colored waters, but remember that the water temperature doesn’t exceed 12 degrees and this is a constant value regardless of the time of year. Even on the hottest summer days you will feel cool here.

The reservoir got its name for several reasons: because of the emerald water and also because of the mountain slopes covered with dense light green vegetation.

By the way, the water has this color because of the high iron content.

Due to the fact that the lake itself is admired with its beauty, and the nature surrounding it is simply fascinating with its rich vegetation, both locals and tourists from different countries like to come here for a picnic.

You will definitely love the magnificent pomegranate and almond groves, which amaze with their beauty and surprisingly different views depending on the season: either a lush bloom with an incredible aroma or a beautiful autumn wilt.

You may be surprised but the ancient Romans used this area to create a whole network of reservoirs and the construction of a large three-tiered aqueduct. Thanks to these complex structures, the ancient city of Side was supplied with fresh water and the fields around the city were irrigated. On the road leading to the canyon you can see the ruins of an old aqueduct.

During the construction of the hydroelectric power station, another man-made wonder was created – this is the beautiful Manavgat Waterfall , which amazes with its beauty and vividness. A park is organized around it, on hot summer days people escape from the scorching sun in the shade of tall trees and enjoy the singing of birds.

The Green Canyon is a unique combination of human activity and the richest nature, giving you the opportunity to be in silence and giving you peace and coolness in the summer heat. The green surface of the water, dense vegetation and eagles soaring above them are a rare phenomenon in everyday life. Therefore, the canyon is a magnet for everyone who is fed up with everyday life.

Swimming in the Lake

During your walk on Lake Oymapinar, you will have two 30-minute stops so you can swim in its emerald crystal clear waters. This incredible lake, located in the Taurus Mountains, looks really magical, but since it is fed by cold springs, the water temperature in it does not rise above 12 degrees even on the hottest summer days. Life jackets are therefore provided for your safety.

Receive a hearty and delicious lunch of rice, fresh vegetable salad and chicken skewers. The boat trip lasts 5 hours, so it is necessary to replenish energy reserves, especially since lunch will be in a picturesque restaurant right on the shore of the lake.

Around 3:30 PM your exciting walk through the scenic Green Canyon ends. You will return to the departure point, where a comfortable, air-conditioned coach will be waiting for you to take you back to your hotel.
