The Turkish bath, or “hammam”, owes its origin to the Roman baths. Perfected over the centuries, this procedure has become a whole culture of body care and an integral part of Turkish life. Hammam in Turkey is a complex ritual with elements of religion, philosophy and the secrets of oriental medicine. It has always been considered a source of pleasure.
Today, the Turkish bath has conquered the world and has become an indispensable part of spa salons. This is not surprising, because the procedures in their totality are not only pleasant, but also surprisingly useful: they have a beneficial effect on sleep and skin condition, alleviate problems with the gastrointestinal tract, and fragrant steam cures colds. And yet, only in its homeland in Turkey, the hammam keeps its etiquette and traditions, filled with true oriental flavor.

The Turkish bath traditionally begins with a marble room, where the combination of heat and steam creates a sauna effect. Humid and hot air opens the pores of the skin, so it is easier to clean and nourish. Visiting her is used as preparation for the main procedures. The whole room of the hammam is traditionally marble and has a round shape. The floor is heated with hot air, and then poured over with hot water. In the center there is a large round marble stone – gebek-tashi, “a stone for the stomach”. After lying on it, you come to a steamed state, after which the attendant proceeds to the traditional peeling. It is produced with the help of “kese” – a special mitten based on hard horsehair, which helps to remove dead tissue from the skin. Then you will have a traditional soap massage with foam, which perfectly opens all the pores, helps to get rid of toxins and slags. Further, in a separate room, there will be a professional general strengthening oil body massage.
Both adults and children can visit the Turkish bath. Everyone, regardless of age and status, will enjoy the hammam. But for people with asthma and pregnant women, for safety reasons, participation is not recommended.
We recommend that you visit the hammam in the first days of your vacation. This will not only help, immersed in local traditions, to forget about all the problems, but also to get what every vacationer on the sea dreams of – a beautiful and even tan. After all, the procedures that await you here will best prepare the body for sunbathing. You can also visit the Turkish bath again at the end of your holiday to re-experience this local tradition.
To visit you need to take bathing accessories, change of clothes (after the massage your body will be oily). Jewelry / watches and other valuables are recommended not to be taken with you.
During your stay at the Turkish Bath in Icmeler you can purchase additional services / service packages.
