Your tour begins at 10:00 AM when a comfortable coach will pick you up from your hotel. You will drive inland and in about 2 hours you will make your first stop at the Omer Duruk recreation center, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air of the Taurus Mountains and take great unforgettable photos.
Next, drive to Sarı hacilar village. There, accompanied by a guide, you will walk through the streets of the village. During this walk, Sarı hacilar village will amaze you with its interesting old architecture and magnificent nature. The next point of our exciting journey is Akseki village where you will have a lunch break at a local cafe. After gaining strength, visit the main attractions of Akseki, as well as the Ethnographic Museum.
And now the most exciting part of your trip and actually what you came for is Altınbesik Cave, which houses one of the largest underground lakes in the world. You arrive at the national park where you can observe the amazing, untouched beauty of nature. Then, float on an inflatable boat in Altynbeshik Cave, enjoying the stone vaults and mysterious atmosphere. After the end of the excursion you have a way back. And at 18.00 your transport will be waiting for you to take you back to the hotel.
The road along the entire route is just great. Your bus climbs higher and higher in the mountains with every kilometer, and with every turn, more and more breathtaking views open up to you. Your first stop is Omer Duruk Recreation Center. The viewing platform offers a breathtaking view. You will take amazing pictures that will collect thousands of likes on your social networks.
At the next point of the route, visit the village of Sarykhajilar. The entire architecture was created according to Duimeli Evler’s technology, which is characteristic only of these places. The uniqueness of the buildings is that they were erected without connecting mortar and represent a wooden frame lined with stones. Externally, the walls resemble the quilts carefully wrapped around the apartments. The beams protruding from the stones appear to be rivets or buttons. It looks very cozy. The houses are homely and well-kept, you will have a lot of fun walking here!
One of the points of the trip will be a visit to Akseki village. The history of the village goes back over 800 years. The village was once crossed by the historic Silk Road caravan routes connecting Europe and Asia. Today, thousands of tourists roam its streets. All the secrets of different eras of the life of these countries are carefully kept by the Akseki Ethnographic Museum to share with you interesting facts.
A complicated picture of the past will open before you in museum showcases. You will learn who and when inhabited the earth, how people, times and customs have changed. The museum will tell you about modern life, how the pearl of these places was found – Altynbeshik Cave. How the first tourists visited the attraction and how scientists have been puzzling over the mysteries of the cave for 55 years.
After a long walk along the beautiful streets of the old settlements, you will get hungry, so a delicious lunch will be waiting for you in one of the cafes: chicken kebab, rice and salad. Drinks are not included in the tour price but can be purchased at the cafe.
You will witness an amazing natural wonder, caves are just incredibly big. You enter with a rubber boat through a forty meter long gigantic grotto. Inside you’ll find a deep lake with a speckled bottom, a large stone bridge, and a cavernous upper vault dotted with stalactites that hang down like crystal chandeliers. They and white travertines up to 40 meters high give the cave a fantastic and mysterious look. In the underworld you will meet hundreds of residents. Pigeons and bats find shelter there from the weather and the scorching sun, but due to the excessive salinity of the water there are no fish in the lake.
So far, curious cavers are trying to determine the true extent of Altinbesik. They have already explored 2.5 km, but believe that its length is several times greater, and the field for scientific and research activities is immense. Imagine, after the lake, the next begins, then another. And so about 20 lakes. Nature connected them with a river, which in some places even overcomes rapids, turns into a waterfall and falls loudly.
In the rainy season, the water fills the space up to the stone bridge, only the upper level of the underground remains dry, the cave rests from tourists, stalactites and stalagmites grow to show its beauty one day. The tourist walking area is limited to an area of 200 m from the entrance for safety reasons. But also from this side you can admire the enchanting beauty of Altinbesik Cave.
