Antalya Salda Lake and Pamukkale Tour Program

Early in the morning, before sunrise, a comfortable bus will pick you up from your hotel and you will embark on an unforgettable journey through one of the most important and beautiful corners of Turkey. You’ll stroll along the soft white sandy beaches of the “Turkish Maldives” and take incredible photos against the backdrop of the azure waters of the purest and deepest lake in Turkey – Salda. You can swim in this crystal clear water of the lake or fly with a paraglider and get a bird’s eye view of this beautiful lake.

Then go to an incredible place created by nature itself, the eighth wonder of the world, the “Cotton Castle”, in the beautiful city of Pamukkale. You can observe a unique natural phenomenon that can only be found in Turkey and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List – snow-white travertines. These are pools of thermal water that rise one above the other like steps, creating a natural “cotton castle”.

You will visit the ancient city of Hierapolis and the well-preserved large amphitheater. You can stroll through the well-preserved streets of the ancient city and see real Roman baths. You will be amazed by the majestic columns of Roman Empire architecture. The English speaking guide will tell you the history of the city of Hierapolis and the famous Cleopatra’s Spa. You can swim in the mineral water of this pool, the water of which has a temperature of 36ºC all year round. It is believed that this pool has become a source of beauty and health. It is believed that Cleopatra herself liked to come to this resort to preserve her youth and beauty.

As you walk through the ancient buildings, you will delve into the past of the Roman Empire, enjoying the spirit of that time and marveling at the architectural geniuses of the past.

If you have the courage, if you wish, you can view the structure of the ancient city of Hierapolis from a paragliding altitude.

Your exciting journey begins at dawn. At 4:30-5:00 a.m., a comfortable bus with a German-speaking guide will pick you up at the hotel.

From Antalya we drive to the old town of Korkuteli, which is located in the middle of the Tavrian Mountains. Its history dates back to the beginning of the Byzantine Empire. But it got its current name during the Ottoman Empire in honor of the Ottoman prince Korkut who was killed by his brother in one of the caves. Since 1207, the town of Korkuteli has been used as a summer residence for local rulers. A classic Turkish breakfast with a selection of snacks, tea and coffee awaits you in one of the restaurants in this historical city.

Salda Lake

After a delicious breakfast, head to the stunning Salda Crater Lake. You will be amazed to see white beaches and incredible azure waters. Lake Salda is the deepest and cleanest lake in Turkey. Its depth is 184 m. The azure blue Salda Lake is believed to have formed around 2 million years ago and is one of the few places where ancient stromatolite algae still grow! Surprisingly, the rocks surrounding the lake contain magnesite and magnesium, which have also been found on Mars. These space elements are found in only two places on Earth – Lake Salda and the Maldives. Therefore, it becomes clear why Lake Salda is called “Turkish Maldives”. The surface of the coast of the beautiful Salda Lake is really unusual as it is not formed of fine sand,

The geological features also include the presence of healing clay near the lake shore, saturated with magnesium. This clay, unlike hydrogen sulfide mud, does not smell. Its usefulness has been tested by more than one vacationer – everyone wants to put a healing mask on themselves. As noted by experts, it’s also incredibly refreshing on a hot day.

You’ll have 1.5 hours of free time to test the healing properties of Lake Salda’s magnesium clay for yourself. It is located in a separate reservoir next to the lake. You can also swim in the crystal clear lake. However, note that Lake Salda is located at an altitude of 1193 meters above sea level, and the water in it is quite cool. The water tastes sweet and is believed to even be drinkable.

If you don’t feel like swimming in the azure Salda Lake, you will get aesthetic pleasure just by walking along the snow-white shore and looking at the turquoise surface of the lake. Carbonate mountains, green forests, white sandy beaches, clear water and seven crystal white islands in the lake complete the scenic landscape of the nature park. You not only have time to enjoy beautiful views, but also to take beautiful pictures.

The next point on your journey will be a unique region – Pamukkale. Which means “cotton castle” in Turkish. Located only in Turkey, Pamukkale Hot Springs – an incredible place created by nature itself – is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The slopes are covered with snow-white travertines cascading reservoirs with turquoise thermal water, descending from the slopes of Mt. For several millennia, warm water with high calcium content has flowed down the mountainside, forming snow-white travertine terraces. The photos in the background of these terraces are amazing!

On the territory of this area are the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis, the famous ancient Cleopatra pool and real Roman baths.

The ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis look amazing! You will be delighted to stroll through the beautifully preserved streets of the ancient city. The architecture of the Roman Empire will surprise you with its sophistication. The ruins of the ancient city are scattered over a wide area. Temples, fountains, Roman gates, gymnasiums, ancient Roman baths, Pluto’s cave, Apollo’s temple, Triton’s fountain, Agora (market place) of Hierapolis, the necropolis of Hierapolis, a huge amphitheater – immerse yourself in the ancient past of the Roman Empire.

The city of Hierapolis was probably founded in 190 BC. Founded by King Eumenes II of Pergamon. but the first buildings on the site of this ancient city appeared in the second millennium BC. The city got its name in honor of the Queen of the Amazons Giera, the wife of the legendary founder of Pergamon – Telefos (son of Hercules and Augustus).

The healing powers of the local thermal springs were known even before the Roman Empire, but the city’s popularity as a healing thermal resort grew precisely in Roman times. Wealthy people from all over the empire came here for treatment. And when they died, they were buried according to the customs of the places from which they came. Because of this, Hierapolis is Turkey’s largest ancient necropolis with a variety of tombstones and monuments.

It will be particularly exciting to observe ancient Hierapolis and the structure of the city itself from the height of the paraplane flight.

The city is also home to the famous Cleopatra Healing Pool. It is believed that Cleopatra herself came to this thermal bath to prolong her youth and beauty. The mineral water of this magnificent pool is saturated with calcium sulphate, carbon dioxide, calcium bicarbonate and magnesium and has a high degree of natural ionization. This incredible medicinal composition helps to cope with diseases of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract and musculoskeletal system, helps to calm the nervous system and relieve stress. The mineral water of Cleopatra’s pool has a constant temperature of 36 ° C, so you can take a wellness bath on the territory of the old antique pool at any time of the year.
