Salda Lake

You will travel to an unusual azure lake that formed about 2 million years ago – Lake Salda. Old stromatolite algae still grow in it. And its unusual coastal surface is covered with deposits of the mineral hydromagnesite, which is also rich in the water of the lake, although at first glance it may seem to you that it is fine snow-white sand.

Green forest, carbonate mountains, white sandy beaches, seven crystal white islands in the lake and clear water complement the scenic landscape of this nature park.

You drive along the mountain slopes and pine forests that surround the lake. You will see the incredibly beautiful turquoise waters of the lake and the snow-white shore even at the entrance. You will immediately notice the similarity of the landscape with the popular Maldives. And that’s not casual.

The rocks around the lake and the Maldives contain similar elements – magnesium and magnesite. It is also surprising that these cosmic elements have also been found on Mars.

You will have the opportunity to swim in the cleanest and deepest lake in Turkey. The depth of this crystal clear lake reaches 184 meters.

Please note that the water in the lake is quite cool as Salda Lake is at an altitude of 1193 meters above sea level.

It is believed that the water in the lake is even drinkable and has a sweet taste.

The geological feature of the lake is also the presence of offshore healing clay rich in magnesium. Unlike hydrogen sulfide mud, this clay does not have a specific odor. Beside the lake are separate reservoirs of magnesium clay. It is considered beneficial, so you can test its healing properties and apply it as a mask. In hot weather, it will incredibly refresh your body.

Seeing the mighty mountains, the turquoise surface of the lake and walking along the snow-white shore will give you a truly aesthetic pleasure.

Not only can you swim and enjoy the beautiful views, but you can also take wonderful pictures against the backdrop of these stunning landscapes.
