Marmaris is blessed with the Mediterranean and Aegean coastlines, both of outstanding beauty and where most boat tours travel the Mediterranean coastline, Marmaris Aegean Islands Boat Trip is certainly one of the clichéd hidden gems of this area. To begin with the sea is a greener shade and usually much clearer. Home to turtles and dolphins, if the scenery hasn’t captured your attention, the waters themselves will see you on ‘nature watch’ as you cruise the gentle waters of the Aegean.
The coastline is adorned with small uninhabited islands, some of which are foot friendly and others not so much. The enchanting Kamelya Island where lunch is usually served on board your boat, can be explored by foot and houses a 1,000 year old monastery ruin, where a fresco, believed to be that of the prophet Jesus is still visible on its weathered walls. With a backdrop worthy of Jason and the Argonauts, this coastline will stay in your memory long after you return to your hotel.
The Aegean almost always provides a wonderful cool breeze
The coastline is amazing
The islands are available for shore exploration
If all you want is sunbathing and a cold beer, there is no better way to enjoy your day
The on-board hospitality is second to none
Price: for adults – 20 €, for children from 7 to 11 years old – 10 €, for children under 6 years old – free.
Aegean Island Boat Trip in Marmaris daily from 10:00 to 16:15
Your boat will leave from the small port of Orhaniye. A coach will pick you up from your Marmaris hotel and deliver you to the port. All on board the boat commences the cruise of the glorious Aegean coastline. You will visit Kamelya Island and the aptly named Tooth Island, where the rocks jut out from the sea like badly formed teeth. An ideal spot for swimming and taking a little shore time.
Kamelya Island is also home to a small number of goats. Don’t worry, the goats are very friendly and look forward to their daily visitors, for the most part they eye you with curiosity and leave you well alone, unless of course you have tidbits for them, then you make a friend for life.
With plenty of stops for swimming and snorkeling in the clear waters, your day will end all too soon, sailing back to the bay and a little free time for the famous Kizkumu Beach where you can seemingly walk on the water (hence the name Jesus Beach as it is known among tourists) before rejoining your coach and subsequent return to your Marmaris hotel. Check out the local legend while you are there!
