Red travertines Karahaite

Visit the small village of Karahait, known for its natural wonder that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It contains hot thermal springs gushing out of the ground, forming brown-red travertines. They got this color due to the high composition of iron oxide. The taste of iron can be felt in the air as soon as you approach the place. The thermal waters of Karahait are rich in minerals and trace elements, which are considered to be healing for musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatism, neurological diseases and skin diseases.

Oral consumption is beneficial for high acidity of the gastrointestinal tract. Bathing with mineral water from these springs dilates blood vessels, lowers blood pressure and normalizes heart rate. The temperature in the pools of thermal springs is about 60 ° C, and in the springs themselves, gushing out of the ground, the water is practically boiling water, reaching 80 ° C. You have a great opportunity to improve your health!

Cotton Castle Pamukkale

The next stop on your journey is the unique white travertines of Pamukkale. This name, translated from Turkish, means “cotton castle”. The slopes of Pamukkale are covered with snow-white travertines that cause pools of turquoise thermal water to flow down the slopes of the mountain. Located only in Turkey, Pamukkale Hot Springs – an incredible place created by nature itself – is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. For several millennia, warm water with high calcium content has flowed down the mountainside, forming snow-white travertine terraces. The photos against the background of these terraces are incredible!

A professional Russian-speaking guide will take you on a tour of the area and tell you interesting facts about Pamukkale and the local hot springs.

Ancient city of Hierapolis

Not far from the snow-white travertines of Pamukkale are the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis, the famous ancient Cleopatra pool and real Roman baths.

The ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis look amazing! You will be delighted to stroll through the beautifully preserved streets of the ancient city. The architecture of the Roman Empire will surprise you with its sophistication. The ruins of the ancient city are scattered over a wide area. Temples, fountains, Roman gates, gymnasiums, ancient Roman baths, Pluto’s cave, Apollo’s temple, Triton’s fountain, Agora (market place) of Hierapolis, the necropolis of Hierapolis, a huge amphitheater – immerse yourself in the ancient past of the Roman Empire.

The city of Hierapolis was probably founded in 190 BC. Founded by King Eumenes II of Pergamon. but the first buildings on the site of this ancient city appeared in the second millennium BC. The city got its name in honor of the Queen of the Amazons Giera, the wife of the legendary founder of Pergamon – Telefos (son of Hercules and Avgi).

The healing powers of the local thermal springs were known even before the Roman Empire, but the city’s popularity as a healing thermal resort grew precisely in Roman times. Wealthy people from all over the empire came here for treatment. And when they died, they were buried according to the customs of the places from which they came. Because of this, Hierapolis is Turkey’s largest ancient necropolis with a variety of tombstones and monuments.
It will be particularly exciting to observe ancient Hierapolis and the structure of the city itself from the height of the paraplane flight.

Cleopatra Pool

The city is also home to the famous Cleopatra Healing Pool. It is believed that Cleopatra herself came to this thermal bath to prolong her youth and beauty. The mineral water of this magnificent pool is saturated with calcium sulphate, carbon dioxide, calcium bicarbonate and magnesium and has a high degree of natural ionization. This incredible medicinal composition helps to cope with diseases of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract and musculoskeletal system, helps to calm the nervous system and relieve stress. The mineral water of the Cleopatra pool has a constant temperature of 36 ° C, so you can take a wellness bath on the territory of the old antique pool at any time of the year.

You have 1 hour free time. You can hike the area, swim in Cleopatra’s pool or return to the Pamukkale travertines. There is a cozy cafe near Cleopatra’s pool where you can have a cup of Turkish coffee or tea if you don’t want to go into the pool itself.

If you are a fan of extreme sports or want to see more than other tourists, after a fascinating sightseeing tour in Pamukkale, you can paraglide for a bird’s-eye view flight and observe the structure of ancient Hierapolis and the snow-white hills of Pamukkale from a height of 500 m.
