The first port of call will be to the underground city of Saralti. This amazingly clever masterpiece is a true treasure of Türkiye that has charmed many visitors for years with its own unique history. Many of the astonishing rooms that you will see include toilets, food storage rooms and of course residential quarters that were occupied all of those years ago by ancient Greeks. The ancient underground city was often used as a hideout for early Christians hiding from the Romans, so there are many interesting things you will see that the occupants used to use; where it had a bakery, a water well and also the tour guide will show you evidence of the ventilation system that made sure residents were provided with fresh clean air.
Next up is a visit to the famous village of Cavusin. Universally known for its magical looking fairy chimneys and houses carved into the volcanic rocks. There are plenty of other historical sites to feast your eyes upon, including ruins from old churches and Christian monks. Sitting at the top of the valley and majestically watching over the village is St. John the Baptist Church, take some time to have a wander around and soak the magical yet holy atmosphere. There is also a fantastic opportunity from some really great photos here, so enjoy the mystical fairy chimneys and what this beautiful village has to offer.
When you visit the Valley of the Three Beauties, you will see the three fairy chimneys; one is shorter than the taller two. Listen carefully as the tour guide explains and tells all about the legend surrounding these three fairy chimneys. The Valley of the Three Beauties is perhaps one of the more well-known landmarks in Cappadocia and they are surrounded by a beautiful landscape which makes a fantastic opportunity for some amazing photos.
Next is a visit to Goreme open air museum, mostly famous for its thousand-year-old churches that have been carved into soft volcanic rock and decorated by early Christian monks. The tour guide will tell you lots of interesting information and facts about the ancient buildings that you will see. There are many opportunities to take some stunning photos as you look across the valleys from the balconies or stand and admire the rock carvings.
Now is the time to go for a well-deserved buffet lunch, whilst taking in the charming view of the beauty that surrounds you. When you have finished your freshly prepared lunch and with a satisfied tummy it will be time to make way now to the Onyx Factory. Here you can buy some authentic souvenirs as there is a lot available to purchase from vases and bowls to curtains and jewels! The friendly shop assistants will help you with anything you need to ask before purchase. So, enjoy the shopping experience with accessible prices, very good quality and plenty of choice.
Ihlara Valley is a famous canyon, formed by volcanic activity. Here you will be able to really enjoy the picturesque views. Whilst you walk through the valley you will see many hidden caves, ancient decorated churches and lots of houses carved into the rocks at different height levels. The valley is quite possibly one of Türkiye’s most stunning natural landscapes. Next you will go and visit “Kizil Irmak River” literally meaning the red river. It is the longest river in Türkiye and was given its name thanks to the soil beneath which gives it a red colour. Home to many different species of wildlife and flora, the river makes for a great time exploring. Not only does Avonos host the red river but it is also home to terracotta artworks as well as being the greenest place in the whole of Cappadocia. Pottery, carpet making and its winemaking is what pulls many visitors to this little European looking town, and the famous red river is where locals obtain their clay to make these beautiful souvenirs. You will be able to watch artisans work in the many several studios and see firsthand how they weave the colourful carpets or perhaps watch as they spin up a vase!
After a fun filled and informative day it will be time to head to the four star hotel, get freshened up and then head down the hotel’s restaurant for a buffet dinner. Enjoy the cosy rooms and relax.
The next day if you wish you can wake up early and go on a hot air balloon ride to see the sun rise above Cappadocia! Please speak with the tour guide on day one to book this, then celebrate with a champagne breakfast. What better way to see the landmarks than with a panoramic view! Alternatively, rest for a few hours longer in your hotel room before making your way down to enjoy a filling buffet breakfast before checking out.
Pigeon Valley is eagerly awaiting your visit next and is ready to impress you with its glorious sights. This lovely little valley is named from the thousands of pigeon homes that have been carved into the volcanic rock over the years.
