Kemer İstanbul Tour Program

A comfortable bus will pick you up from the hotel and take you to Antalya Airport . The exact departure time will be communicated to you one day before the excursion. They fly to Istanbul. Your unforgettable journey starts at 7am. You will continue to Sultanahmet Mosque. In the immediate vicinity is the hippodrome – the next object of your attention. Sultanahmet Mosque: Your journey begins at the iconic site of Istanbul – the Blue Mosque . It owes its name to the interior design. The tiles on the interior walls are blue and white. This is truly a masterpiece of architecture where grace, monumentality and grandeur are fused into one. Construction began in 1609 and lasted 7 years. Young Sultan Ahmed I, believing that he angered Allah, the poet decided to build a mosque.

Funds for this were taken from the Sultan’s personal treasury. You will see that the distinctive feature of the mosque is the presence of 6 minarets. The style of the Blue Mosque is a combination of Byzantine and Ottoman styles. Marble and stone were used for the construction. Hippodrome: Enjoy a stroll around the Hippodrome or Sultanahmet Square. Horse races were held here during the Constantinople period, hence the two names. German Fountain: You will be amazed by the beauty of one of the curious sights significant to the history of Istanbul – the German Fountain. This is a gift from Germany to the Ottoman Empire in honor of the arrival of Emperor Welhelm II in Istanbul. In honor of the fact that Turkey and Germany formed an alliance. The structures for the fountain were created in Germany, then shipped to Istanbul and assembled on site.

The fountain was opened on January 27, 1901, on the birthday of Chancellor Welhelm II. Despite the fact that its architecture differs from the rest of the decoration of Sultanahmet Square, where it is located, the fountain fits perfectly and looks very harmonious. Hagia Sophia: You can enjoy the exquisite, luxurious interior of the world-famous monument of the Byzantine era – Hagia Sophia. The cathedral was founded in 324. The interior was decorated with gold, precious stones, silver and ivory. After the Turks conquered Constantinople in 1453, Sultan Mehmed II converted it into the Hagia Sophia Mosque.

At the same time, many Christian frescoes and mosaics have been preserved. In 1935, Kemal Atatürk converted the mosque into a museum by special decree. You can enjoy the closely intertwined elements of Muslim and Christian decoration. Because here images of Jesus Christ and sayings from the Koran coexist peacefully and complement each other perfectly.

Egyptian Shopping Arcade: You will definitely feel the atmosphere of a real oriental market! It is situated on the shores of Golden Horn Bay. Built in the mid 17th century.
